WHS Specialist (Safety)
We're seeking a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist to join the People & Impact team and support operational WHS activities across the organisation. The successful candidate will lead incident management, risk mitigation, compliance and Return to Work programs, while partnering with leaders and stakeholders to promote employee wellbeing and psychological safety. This role offers the opportunity to influence safety culture, drive continuous improvement and support strategic WHS initiatives.
Working across a diverse stakeholder group, this role combines hands-on operational support with strategic WHS planning, providing the opportunity to influence organisational safety practices, strengthen compliance frameworks and contribute to broader people and culture initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Provide expert WHS advice and guidance to leaders, managers and employees across the business.
- Lead workplace incident reporting, investigations and corrective action processes.
- Support Workers' Compensation and Return to Work programs in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Identify, assess and mitigate workplace risks through proactive risk management strategies.
- Deliver engaging WHS training, education and awareness initiatives.
- Develop, review and maintain WHS policies, procedures and safety management systems.
- Promote employee wellbeing, psychological safety and access to wellbeing resources.
- Monitor legislative changes and drive continuous improvement across WHS practices and compliance.
Experience Required
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety, Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a Workplace Health and Safety role within a complex organisational environment.
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, compliance requirements and best practice frameworks.
- Proven experience managing incident investigations, risk assessments and hazard management programs.
- Experience supporting Workers' Compensation claims and Return to Work processes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence outcomes at all levels.
