Health and Safety Advisor

Save job

Drive meaningful change across workplace health and safety in this high-impact Health & Safety Advisor role, supporting operations across Australia and New Zealand. Partner with leaders to shape WHS strategy, strengthen risk frameworks, champion wellbeing and embed a culture of shared accountability. Join a collaborative, inclusive organisation offering flexible working and genuine opportunities for professional growth.

This is a broad and influential role where you’ll partner closely with operational leaders, provide trusted WHS expertise and help embed a proactive culture of safety, wellbeing and shared accountability. With responsibility across a diverse, multi-site operational environment, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible impact while contributing to the ongoing development of WHS frameworks, systems and practices.

What the role entails

Reporting across Australia and New Zealand, you’ll take ownership of a broad range of WHS activities, balancing hands-on operational support with strategic improvement. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve WHS management frameworks, policies, procedures and standards across the business.
  • Provide expert WHS advice to operational leaders and managers, helping embed safe and compliant practices into day-to-day operations.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews across multiple operational sites.
  • Identify hazards and implement practical controls across areas including manual handling, traffic management, vehicle loading, emergency management and environmental risks.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes and drive effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise the business on emerging WHS requirements.
  • Manage contractor safety processes, including pre-qualification, compliance checks and ongoing monitoring.
  • Support Workers’ Compensation and Return to Work processes, working closely with employees, managers, insurers and rehabilitation providers.
  • Support the management of psychosocial hazards and contribute to initiatives that promote employee wellbeing and psychological safety.
  • Administer WHS systems and platforms, using data, dashboards and reporting to identify trends and inform decision-making.
  • Coordinate internal and external WHS audits and ensure findings and corrective actions are effectively managed.
  • Deliver WHS training, coaching and awareness initiatives to build capability across leaders and employees.
  • Promote consultation, engagement and shared accountability for health and safety throughout the organisation.

Experience required

To be successful, you’ll be an experienced WHS professional who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence at all levels of an organisation.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a WHS role, ideally within a multi-site operational environment such as logistics, transport, automotive, retail or a similar industry.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and continuously improving WHS management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, risk management and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Experience managing contractors and ensuring WHS compliance throughout the contractor lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting Workers’ Compensation and Return to Work programs.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial hazards and contemporary approaches to workplace wellbeing.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety as a minimum; a Diploma or tertiary WHS qualification will be highly regarded.
  • Return to Work Coordinator certification would be advantageous.
  • Experience using WHS systems such as SafetyCulture, Mitti or similar platforms, alongside strong Microsoft Office capability.
  • A current Australian Driver Licence, given the requirement to undertake site visits.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing skills.
  • A practical, collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with strong attention to detail and accountability.

If you’re looking for a position that combines strategic influence, operational exposure and meaningful impact, this could be an excellent next step in your WHS career.
