Save job

This is a rare opportunity for you to step into a pivotal Knowledge Counsel role based in Sydney, where your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the internal knowledge function of a leading national law firm.

About the Firm

This firm stands out as Australia’s premier national law firm specialising in Employment, with offices spanning Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane. Its reputation has been built on delivering trusted advice to major corporate employers and government bodies alike. What truly sets this firm apart is its unwavering commitment to creating an environment where people seize opportunities not just to innovate but also progress personally and professionally. Employees benefit from competitive workplace benefits alongside exposure to varied workstreams; they enjoy being part of a high-achieving yet collegiate team where knowledge sharing is central. About the Role

As Knowledge Counsel, you will play an integral role in driving the operational execution of the firm's internal knowledge function. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Conduct thorough research and identify relevant updates for internal communication to ensure the team remains informed on key developments.
  • Support the creation and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive work product strategies, leveraging new generative AI tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and informal mentoring to early career lawyers, helping them develop their skills within a nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with the Learning team to design and implement internal learning and development programmes tailored to the needs of the firm.
  • Manage legal product subscriptions—including those related to AI—by liaising with both internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Work directly with partners and lawyers to generate high-quality content for market-facing outputs, providing editorial support from inception through finalisation.
  • Promote knowledge sharing across the firm by facilitating workshops, presentations, or written communications that foster communal learning.
  • Champion best practices in knowledge management by staying curious about emerging trends in employment, industrial relations, and safety law.

About You

  • At least six years’ post-admission experience in employment, industrial relations or safety & regulatory law.
  • Outstanding communication skills for effective sharing of information and presentation of complex concepts clearly.
  • Superior client service abilities.
  • An organised approach for the management of multiple projects.
  • A willingness to learn new technologies including generative AI products.
  • An open-minded and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Experience mentoring junior lawyers or supporting early career professionals is highly valued.
