Employment Law Associate

What you'll do:
You will play a pivotal role in supporting clients across a broad spectrum of workplace matters. You will:
- Provide expert advice on all aspects of employment law including workplace relations, industrial disputes, discrimination claims, unfair dismissal, enterprise bargaining agreements, and workplace investigations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, policies, procedures, and other related documentation with meticulous attention to detail.
- Represent clients in tribunals and courts by preparing submissions, managing evidence, briefing counsel, and attending hearings as required.
- Conduct thorough legal research on complex employment law issues to ensure clients receive accurate and up-to-date guidance.
- Support senior lawyers in managing client relationships by responding promptly to queries and proactively identifying potential risks or opportunities.
- Deliver clear written advice tailored to each client’s needs while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Participate in business development initiatives such as seminars, networking events, or thought leadership activities to help grow the practice area.
- Contribute positively to the team’s collaborative culture by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior staff members when appropriate, and engaging in regular training sessions.
- Stay abreast of legislative changes affecting employment law through continuous learning and participation in relevant professional associations.
What you bring:
To excel as an Employment Law Associate in this leading international firm’s Sydney office, you will bring:
- A current practising certificate as a solicitor in Australia with at least two year's post-qualification experience specialising in employment law within a reputable firm or similar environment.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to explain complex legal concepts clearly to clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Show proven ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail under time pressure.
- Display strong interpersonal skills that foster positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders alike.
- Possess sound judgement when analysing legal issues or recommending practical solutions tailored to each client’s circumstances.
- Exhibit genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning about developments in employment law through formal training or self-directed study.
- Be comfortable working collaboratively within a team-oriented environment where knowledge-sharing is encouraged and valued.
- Experience representing clients before tribunals or courts is highly desirable but not essential if you demonstrate willingness to learn.
