Lead the strategy and delivery of external communications, taking ownership of key public-facing channels, including media and corporate announcements, and partners closely with senior leaders to shape clear, credible communications. Balancing planning with execution, the role ensures consistent, timely, and audience‑focused communication across all external touchpoints.

Overview of the Role

The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for shaping and delivering external communications. You will lead strategic storytelling across key external channels, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, and audience‑focused. Working closely with senior leaders and cross‑functional partners, the role balances long‑term communications strategy with hands‑on delivery across media, corporate announcements, and public-facing content.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience leading external communications in a complex or fast‑paced organisation
  • Demonstrated experience supporting press office activity and earned media, including drafting media materials and confidence engaging with journalists or media outlets
  • Experience advising senior stakeholders and translating business priorities into clear narratives
  • Experience working in an in-house communications management role
  • Ability to manage issues‑based communications and respond confidently under pressure

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead external communications strategies that align with organisational objectives
  • Manage key external channels, including media relations, announcements, and public statements
  • Act as a senior advisor to leaders on external messaging, positioning, and risk
  • Lead planning and delivery of proactive and reactive communications, including issues management
  • Ensure messaging consistency across external touchpoints and contribute to measurement and reporting
