About the role: Manager - Taxation

As the Manager of Taxation, your role will be instrumental in ensuring the robust tax position of the Department. Your expertise will be crucial in providing high-quality advice on tax policy and compliancy, leading a multidisciplinary team, and delivering accurate information to stakeholders.

You will bring a wealth of experience (Private and Public Sector) in providing expert taxation policy advice that aligns with strategic objectives and developing tax planning strategies.

Ideally suited to candidates who want to make the transition from the Private Sector, this role is seeking candidates who want to make a real impact.

Key responsibilities & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality strategic and taxation policy and compliance advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage contractual relationships with external taxation advisors.
  • Develop and maintain departmental tax planning strategies for existing and proposed transactions.
  • Prepare complex and sensitive submissions, briefing notes and reports on tax matters.
  • Provide effective departmental representation at various forums and meetings.
  • Lead the development of systems and processes for the delivery of high quality, accurate information to stakeholders.
     

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in providing expert taxation policy and compliance advice.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining tax planning strategies for a large government organisation.
  • Ability to cultivate productive working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated public service professionalism and probity.
  • Superior level of communication (written and verbal), negotiation, consultation, liaison, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
