Asset Maintenance Engineer - Electrical

Save job

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery and management of Adelaide Airport Limited’s asset management strategy, helping drive its 20‑year capital replacement program and optimise electrical asset performance across Adelaide and Parafield Airports.

Adelaide Airport Ltd (AAL) is an internationally recognised and award-winning employer of choice in the dynamic aviation environment. The gateway to South Australia, Adelaide Airport is the fifth-largest airport in Australia and is committed to on-going developments that seamlessly connect the world to South Australia. It is an un-listed public company owned by long term superannuation funds.

AAL is a major business centre and is executing its vision to be a globally connected, next generation hub offering a unique sense of place to its partners. AAL has recently announced $1billion in capital investment over the next five years, covering both significant aviation and technology infrastructure upgrades in addition to some exciting commercial property developments across both our Adelaide and Parafield Airport sites.

The opportunity:

As the Asset Maintenance Engineer – Electrical, you will immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where your day-to-day responsibilities span from hands-on technical assessments to strategic planning. You will be entrusted with ensuring that all aspects of electrical infrastructure (from airfield lighting to terminal control systems) are maintained at peak performance levels. Your role will see you collaborating with internal teams as well as trusted contractors to deliver seamless operations while upholding rigorous safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Facilities & Asset Management by facilitating optimal performance of all electrical assets across Adelaide and Parafield Airports through effective planning and execution.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review comprehensive asset management plans focused on high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical infrastructure, airfield lighting systems, and advanced asset control systems.
  • Lead the coordination of condition monitoring and assessment programmes for critical HV/LV electrical assets to ensure ongoing reliability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with key contractors to enhance control systems for terminal baggage handling, security systems, building automation, and airfield lighting solutions.
  • Work alongside the Asset Systems Manager to advance AAL’s overall asset management maturity by integrating best practices into daily operations.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities for electrical assets adhere strictly to relevant legislative requirements and internal standards for safety and quality.
  • Support the electrical maintenance team in developing, improving, and delivering robust maintenance programmes aligned with strategic asset management objectives.
  • Assist in managing relationships with external electrical services contractors to guarantee high-quality service delivery across all projects.
  • Conduct regular reviews of technical maintenance plans and procedures to ensure alignment with broader asset management goals and performance metrics.
  • Maintain an accurate asset register within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), providing essential input into Opex forecasting and long-term capital replacement planning.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical) or equivalent tertiary qualifications or significant experience in electrical infrastructure asset management is required for this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand commercial, financial, and contractual obligations related to large-scale asset management initiatives is essential.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office suite for data analysis, reporting, and communication is necessary for effective performance.
  • Experience in developing and delivering comprehensive asset management plans within complex operational environments is highly valued.
  • Proven capability in managing conflicting demands within a team setting while maintaining focus on shared goals is important for success.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience conducting data-driven assessments of asset condition are required for informed decision-making.
  • Experience working collaboratively with suppliers and contractors on technical projects is desirable for this position.
  • A track record of operating effectively within multi-stakeholder environments, particularly those involving operational facilities which will be considered beneficial.

Join an organisation that truly values its people. Adelaide Airport fosters a culture built on accountability, teamwork, respect, integrity, celebration, and customer focus. You’ll have access to professional development opportunities through learning & development programs while contributing to meaningful projects that shape workplace culture.
