What You’ll Do
As a Business Analyst based in Brisbane CBD, you will work within a highly collaborative environment where strong stakeholder engagement is essential to success. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to understand business challenges and translate them into clear, actionable requirements for Digital Technologies teams.
Your responsibilities will include producing high-quality documentation that supports the maintenance and evolution of ICT services, facilitating communication between technical and business teams, and contributing to effective risk and contingency planning. Attention to detail and a willingness to share knowledge will be key, whether reviewing documentation, updating diagrams, or supporting peers. Success in this role comes from your ability to understand complex problems and enable others through collaboration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with stakeholders across multiple departments to gather and validate business requirements and assess project impacts.
- Liaising with Digital Technologies teams to develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions that address current and future business needs.
- Conducting research to gather comprehensive specification requirements, including business, functional, non-functional, user, implementation, and capability needs.
- Analysing existing documentation, support requests, and stakeholder feedback to identify underlying or emerging business requirements.
- Drafting and maintaining business cases, policies, procedures, and documentation that support ICT service development and operations.
- Supporting stakeholders to identify ICT impacts, document contingency plans, user workarounds, and risk management strategies.
- Creating and updating diagrams and technical documentation to clearly communicate system processes and solutions.
- Providing peer review and constructive feedback to technology team members.
- Documenting methodologies, structures, and tools to ensure consistency and support evolving business needs.
- Advising business representatives on system requirements, information needs, process improvements, scope management, and project risks.
What You Bring
You bring proven experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and are known for your clear communication, reliability, and empathy. You have strong capability in eliciting and analysing complex business requirements, translating them into actionable outcomes, and producing clear, high-quality documentation to support ICT services.
You are comfortable working within established project management frameworks such as PRINCE2 or Agile. Experience with cyber security principles or frameworks (such as ASD Essential 8 or NIST) is desirable but not mandatory. Your analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to build strong stakeholder relationships enable you to assess risks effectively and contribute to resilient solutions. Above all, you are motivated by collaboration, knowledge sharing, and helping others succeed.
Key capabilities include:
- Demonstrated experience eliciting and documenting detailed business requirements from a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to translate business needs into practical and achievable solution scopes.
- Strong research and analysis skills, including reviewing documentation and stakeholder inputs.
- Experience producing business cases, policies, procedures, or technical documentation for ICT environments.
- Capability in identifying business and ICT impacts, developing contingency plans, and supporting risk management activities.
- Experience creating or maintaining diagrams and documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to support peers through constructive review and knowledge sharing.
- Familiarity with documenting methodologies and tools that support ongoing business and technology improvement initiatives.
- Ability to provide informed advice on system requirements, process improvements, scope control, and project risks.
