Business Project Manager - Operating Model
We are supporting a major NSW State Government organisation undergoing an organisation‑wide restructure and are seeking an experienced Project Manager with strong business transformation capability. This role sits at the intersection of operating model design, finance & operations processes, and enterprise systems (ERP).
You will lead the delivery of business‑critical system and process changes, ensuring new operating structures are effectively embedded while maintaining business‑as‑usual continuity.
This is a hands‑on delivery role suited to a business‑side PM who is comfortable working with senior stakeholders, functional leads, and technical teams to turn restructure decisions into operational reality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of finance and operations system and process changes driven by organisational restructure
- Translate new operating model and structural changes into executable workplans, processes, and system outcomes
- Own project governance including scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, and reporting
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams across Finance, Operations, Technology, and external vendors
- Oversee the operationalisation of ERP and core systems to support new roles, accountabilities, and workflows
- Ensure clarity between business requirements and system configuration, acting as the bridge between stakeholders and delivery teams
- Manage cutover and implementation activities while ensuring service continuity during transition
- Develop and maintain project artefacts including plans, Gantt charts, implementation playbooks, and status reporting
- Support change readiness by ensuring processes, ownership, and handover are clearly defined
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering business transformation or restructure‑driven projects
- Strong background in business‑side project management (not purely IT delivery)
- Demonstrated ability to implement operating model and process changes across finance and/or operations functions
- Experience working with ERP or enterprise systems in a transformation or restructure context
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior leaders
- Strong capability in managing risk, issues, dependencies, and competing priorities
Highly Desirable
- Experience in government or complex regulated environments
- Exposure to finance, corporate services, or shared services operating models
- Experience embedding systems changes into day‑to‑day operations post‑go‑live
