Senior Project Manager

What you'll do:
As a Senior Project Manager based in Sydney you will be responsible for orchestrating key activities across multiple technology workstreams. Your day-to-day will involve managing complex projects from inception through delivery by developing robust plans that keep everyone aligned on objectives. You’ll monitor progress closely—addressing any risks or competing priorities—and prepare governance materials that enable informed decision-making at every stage. Building strong relationships with stakeholders is essential; you’ll communicate updates clearly so everyone remains engaged. Success in this role means consistently supporting high-quality outcomes through diligent documentation practices while actively participating in compliance activities. - Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and delivery activities across assigned workstreams to ensure all agreed objectives are achieved efficiently.
- Monitor project progress against scope, schedule, dependencies, and deliverables while proactively addressing slippage, competing priorities, and delivery risks to maintain momentum.
- Prepare and maintain governance materials including status reporting, action logs, RAID registers, and decision papers to support effective oversight and clear accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, assess, document, and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and interdependencies; escalate matters promptly when additional support or decisions are required from senior stakeholders.
- Work closely with delivery teams and stakeholders to resolve blockers, manage impacts across workstreams, and sustain progress against established delivery timeframes.
- Build and nurture strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders by ensuring expectations, responsibilities, decisions, and delivery approaches are clearly understood and aligned.
- Provide clear, timely communication on project status, upcoming milestones, impacts, decisions, and actions tailored to various audiences to promote transparency and engagement across the programme.
- Support the delivery of high-quality project outcomes by maintaining comprehensive documentation, monitoring completion of actions, promoting consistent ways of working, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Actively participate in compliance activities by completing mandatory training requirements related to legal, risk management, fraud prevention, AML competency testing as well as annual workshops.
- Champion a culture of risk awareness by identifying potential compliance issues early on and notifying relevant teams promptly while supporting policies applicable to your business unit.

- Minimum five years’ experience in project management roles delivering business transformation or technology initiatives within complex environments is essential for success in this position.
- Demonstrated experience working within superannuation or financial services sectors—or other regulated environments—with a solid understanding of governance disciplines required in such settings.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills enabling you to build credibility quickly while working effectively across business units delivery teams and leadership groups.
- Proven ability to develop manage maintain project plans priorities milestones deliverables across multiple concurrent workstreams ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Experience establishing maintaining project governance frameworks including reporting RAID management decision logs delivery controls supporting successful execution of programmes.
- Strong written verbal communication skills allowing you to prepare clear concise status updates governance papers presentations issue escalations suitable for diverse audiences.
- Ability to identify delivery risks issues dependencies assess impacts support timely resolution escalation as needed keeping projects moving forward smoothly.
- Excellent problem-solving judgement decision-support capabilities enabling you analyse information make practical recommendations that benefit both team outcomes overall programme success.
- Ability to influence negotiate manage competing priorities supporting aligned outcomes maintaining delivery momentum even when faced with ambiguity changing circumstances.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office tools especially Excel PowerPoint Word Co-pilot plus familiarity with project delivery collaboration tools like JIRA Confluence Planner or similar platforms.
