What you'll do:

As a Sales and Service Engineer at Schaeffler with Brisbane as the preferred region (though candidates may also be based in Central or North Queensland), you will play a pivotal role in fostering collaborative relationships across Queensland’s industrial landscape. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve engaging directly with distribution partners, OEMs and end users. and end users through carefully planned sales calls that form the backbone of tactical business development. You will conduct regular reviews of distributor performance, deliver insightful product training sessions, identify new project opportunities, and coach distributor staff, all while working closely with colleagues across various departments. By coordinating marketing efforts and providing technical support both remotely and onsite, you will help maintain Schaeffler’s reputation for dependable service. Your use of CRM tools will ensure transparent communication of sales progress, market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback. Additionally, you will champion workplace safety by adhering to company policies and actively participating in health initiatives. Success in this role hinges on your ability to connect empathetically with stakeholders, share knowledge generously within the team network, and respond sensitively to evolving customer needs.

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement effective sales programmes in partnership with the State Manager to increase Schaeffler’s market share across Queensland.
  • Manage relationships with distribution partners, OEMs and end users by planning customer sales calls that ensure efficient coverage and engagement throughout the territory.
  • Conduct regular sales performance reviews with distributors, providing feedback and guidance to enhance their development in line with national objectives.
  • Deliver product training sessions for both end users and distributors, sharing your expertise to build communal knowledge within the network.
  • Identify project and sales opportunities by collaborating closely with colleagues, distributors, and key target accounts to drive business growth.
  • Assist distributor staff through coaching initiatives that nurture their skills and align with regional goals.
  • Coordinate marketing support activities with the marketing team to promote Schaeffler products effectively among distributors and end users.
  • Provide up-to-date technical advice and after-sales service support for customers, including hands-on engineering assistance in conjunction with internal teams.
  • Utilise CRM systems such as Salesforce to record sales call outcomes, track market feedback, report on KPIs, and communicate relevant business initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Schaeffler Australia’s health and safety policies by participating actively in workplace safety activities and reporting hazards promptly.

The ideal candidate for the Sales and Service Engineer position at Schaeffler brings a blend of technical qualifications, such as an engineering degree, along with strong hands-on mechanical and service experience, and a proven background in industrial sales rather than a purely desk-based engineering role.

You possess a deep understanding of market dynamics coupled with practical know-how in logistics and order planning. Your proficiency with CRM systems like Salesforce ensures seamless communication across the network while your intermediate computer skills enable accurate reporting. You demonstrate dependability through consistent availability for travel across Queensland, a testament to your commitment towards nurturing relationships wherever needed. While prior knowledge of Schaeffler products is beneficial, what matters most is your willingness to share insights generously within the team environment.

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in Engineering or another relevant field are essential for this role as they underpin your technical expertise. Experienced mechanical trades personnel also encouraged to apply
  • A minimum of five years’ relevant industry experience demonstrates your proven ability in industrial sales environments.
  • Experience using Client Relationship Management (CRM) software systems such as Salesforce is highly desirable as it supports effective communication within the team network.
  • Intermediate computer literacy across MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint enables you to manage reporting procedures efficiently.
  • Curiosity towards exploring new technology ensures you remain responsive to developing solutions alongside customers.
  • Relevant market knowledge, including logistics, order planning, and strong problem-solving skills allow you to address customer needs considerately.
  • Demonstrated skills in business-to-business sales highlight your capacity for collaborative customer call planning and effective time management.
  • Availability for regular travel throughout Queensland shows your commitment to supporting clients wherever they are located.
  • Knowledge of Schaeffler products is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn is valued within the communal culture.
