IT Engineer – Platforms $900 + super p/a Contract till October Brisbane An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Engineer – Platforms to join a forward-thinking digital and information team in Brisbane.
What you'll do:
- Provision, deploy, configure, operate, and optimise technology infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments to ensure seamless business operations.
- Apply advanced technical expertise to maintain and enhance technology platforms by executing updates and employing automation tools for efficiency.
- Establish and maintain operational procedures and standard operating processes (SOPs) for all relevant technologies within the team's remit, always ensuring adherence to security policies.
- Monitor system load, performance, and security metrics using system management tools to proactively identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Investigate operational and security-related incidents, providing detailed reports and proposals for improvement to stakeholders as required.
- Plan and implement maintenance routines and agreed changes while coordinating release activities across multiple teams to ensure timely delivery of new features or updates.
- Develop configuration management processes including secure configuration, classification, auditing of configuration items (CIs), and maintaining accurate records through automation tools.
- Assess risks associated with proposed changes by developing documentation and implementing robust change control processes that align with organisational objectives.
- Initiate actions to investigate problems in systems or services, collaborating with others to implement agreed remedies and preventative measures for ongoing improvement.
- Support incident management by monitoring queues, documenting resolutions accurately, contributing to procedure development, and assisting team members in following best practices.
What you bring:
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field combined with at least five years’ experience in aligned technology areas—or seven years’ direct experience without formal qualifications.
- Relevant certifications such as Service Management (ITIL), COBIT, PRINCE2, CCNA or MSCE are highly regarded but not mandatory; willingness to pursue further training is encouraged.
- Demonstrated experience provisioning, deploying, configuring, operating, and optimising technology infrastructure across various environments including cloud-based platforms.
- Proven ability to develop scripts or configure automation tools that streamline domain-specific tasks within enterprise IT settings.
- Strong understanding of configuration management principles including secure handling of configuration items (CIs), record-keeping through automation tools, and regular auditing practices.
- Experience assessing risks associated with change requests by developing comprehensive documentation and implementing effective change control processes.
- Solid background in problem management, initiating investigations into system issues, determining fixes collaboratively with peers, and supporting analysis of patterns or trends for process improvement.
- Familiarity with release management processes including planning schedules according to business needs; coordinating activities among multiple teams; ensuring compliance with quality standards; conducting post-release reviews.
- Knowledgeable in information security frameworks—providing guidance on security controls; performing risk analyses; investigating suspected attacks; supporting incident management efforts as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated through building positive relationships with peers, leaders, and stakeholders and showing empathy towards customer needs during service interactions.
