Oracle and SQL Server Database Administrator Brisbane Up till May 2027 ASAP Start An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oracle and SQL Server Database Administrator to join a highly respected organisation in Brisbane, where your expertise will be pivotal in supporting both production and non-production systems across on-premises and cloud-based enterprise environments.

What you'll do:

  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, manage, and monitor databases as well as any related third-party software to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Provide expert support for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Exadata services such as Data Guard, RAC, and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), ensuring robust data protection and availability.
  • Administer AWS RDS database services with a focus on PostgreSQL to maintain seamless integration between cloud-based solutions and existing infrastructure.
  • Maintain process automation through scripting in Linux or Windows environments alongside PLSQL or TSQL development to streamline operations.
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly—including performance bottlenecks and security issues—to deliver prompt resolutions that minimise downtime.
  • Perform essential database management tasks such as data extracts, reorganisations, refreshes, backups, and restores to safeguard business continuity.
  • Utilise advanced management tools for Oracle (Cloud Control with Tuning, Diagnostics, Lifecycle Management packs; Quest TOAD; ORACLE SQL Developer) to enhance monitoring capabilities.
  • Support SQL Server environments using SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS tools to provide comprehensive oversight of reporting and analytics functions.
  • Maintain detailed operational documentation for all database environments to ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a third-level escalation point for complex technical issues within the database environment while raising and managing service requests with Oracle or Microsoft support as needed.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, managing, and monitoring Oracle and SQL Server databases in enterprise settings.
  • Proven expertise administering Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Exadata services including Data Guard, Real Application Clusters (RAC), and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
  • Hands-on experience managing AWS RDS services with particular emphasis on PostgreSQL integration within hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Advanced scripting abilities in Linux or Windows environments using PLSQL or TSQL to automate routine tasks efficiently.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for investigating incidents related to performance optimisation or security vulnerabilities within large-scale databases.
  • Comprehensive understanding of backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, high availability configurations, and their implementation across various platforms.
  • Familiarity with leading management tools such as Oracle Cloud Control (including Tuning/Diagnostics/Lifecycle Management packs), Quest TOAD, ORACLE SQL Developer; plus, SQL Server tools like SSMS/SSRS/SSIS/SSAS.
  • Ability to produce clear operational documentation that supports compliance initiatives while facilitating knowledge transfer among team members.
  • Experience acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues involving multiple stakeholders or external vendor support channels.
  • A track record of providing effective mentoring or training sessions that foster skill development within multidisciplinary teams.
