Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to translate complex requirements into elegant solutions that delight users. You will guide your team through every phase of the design process—from initial research and ideation through prototyping and usability testing—ensuring that each output not only meets but exceeds expectations. - Define comprehensive user experience strategies that set the architecture and design direction across a suite of digital products, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders such as product managers, subject matter experts, and business owners to gather requirements and champion the voice of the user throughout all stages of development.
- Make informed design decisions that balance user needs with broader business objectives, ensuring each solution delivers measurable value.
- Manage and mentor a team of designers by planning workloads, reviewing outputs for quality assurance, providing constructive feedback, and fostering professional growth within the team.
- Take full ownership of UX deliverables from conception through to implementation, maintaining accountability for consistency and coherence across multiple programmes.
- Represent the UX discipline in governance forums, leadership meetings, and cross-functional planning sessions to advocate for best practices and influence decision-making at all levels.
- Approve key UX artefacts such as user flows, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and ensure they adhere to industry standards as well as internal guidelines.
- Act as a 'player-coach' by balancing hands-on design work with leadership responsibilities—guiding both project outcomes and team development.
- Champion accessibility by embedding WCAG standards into all aspects of design to create inclusive digital experiences for diverse audiences.
What you bring:
To excel as a User Experience Lead in this organisation, you will bring proven expertise in leading multifaceted UX projects where your strategic thinking has driven both innovation and measurable results. Your background should include substantial experience applying human-centred methodologies—gathering insights directly from users then translating those findings into practical solutions that address real-world problems. You are adept at using modern design tools not just for visualisation but also for effective communication across teams. Your collaborative approach ensures productive partnerships with technical colleagues while your advocacy for accessibility guarantees no one is left behind. Mentoring comes naturally to you; you take pride in nurturing others’ growth while upholding high standards across all deliverables. With an analytical mindset complemented by empathy for end-users’ needs, you continuously seek ways to refine processes so every project achieves its fullest potential.
- Demonstrated ability to lead UX initiatives by setting clear design direction and aligning user experience goals with overarching business objectives.
- Extensive hands-on experience applying user-centred design principles through conducting research activities such as interviews, surveys, usability tests, and translating insights into actionable strategies.
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools including Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD as well as methods like prototyping, journey mapping, wireframing, and usability testing.
- A strong history of collaborating effectively with product managers, developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions focused on user needs.
- Deep knowledge of accessibility standards (such as WCAG) coupled with a genuine commitment to designing inclusive digital experiences for all users regardless of ability.
- Ability to analyse user data and behavioural analytics to inform iterative improvements in design solutions while solving complex UX challenges creatively.
- Experience managing UX projects from inception through delivery—including mentoring junior designers—and consistently achieving high-quality outcomes within Agile or iterative environments.
