Head of IT

Are you a hands-on IT leader who can balance strategy with operational delivery? We are partnering with a well-established national distribution business seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead and evolve their technology environment across a multi-branch operation.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will take ownership of the organisation’s IT infrastructure, systems, security, and operational performance while helping shape the future technology roadmap. The business is investing in automation, integration, reporting, and operational efficiency, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys modernising environments and driving meaningful business outcomes.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the company’s IT environment across systems, networks, devices, and branch operations. A key focus will be maintaining business continuity and maximising uptime across the national network.

Alongside day-to-day operational leadership, you will play a strategic role in developing and implementing both short and long-term IT initiatives, including automation, systems integration, reporting, and future-focused technology improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• - Lead and manage the organisation’s IT operations, infrastructure, systems, and security
• - Ensure high availability and reliability across the branch network and critical business systems
• - Develop and execute the IT strategy aligned to business growth and operational efficiency
• - Drive structured IT governance, policies, and best practices
• - Manage ERP and business system integrations across platforms including e-commerce, WMS/TMS, PIM, and finance systems
• - Deliver meaningful reporting and analytics capabilities using Power BI
• - Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvement
• - Support AI-enabled initiatives including forecasting, workflow automation, reporting insights, and productivity improvements
• - Oversee cyber security, compliance, risk management, and data protection initiatives
• - Partner with leadership and operational stakeholders to improve business performance through technology

About You

You will be an experienced IT leader who combines technical capability with commercial awareness and operational understanding.

You will ideally bring:

• - Experience leading IT within distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or supply-chain-focused businesses
• - Strong understanding of ERP ecosystems and systems integration to PIM, e-commerce, WMS/TMS and finance
• - Experience delivering BI and reporting initiatives using Power BI or similar platforms
• - Exposure to AI, automation, workflow, or data-led improvement initiatives
• - A pragmatic and hands-on leadership style
• - Experience operating within mid-sized or privately-owned businesses
• - Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• - A focus on reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
