Technical Lead

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to drive the architecture, delivery, and operational excellence of client cloud-hosted software platform. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions. You will lead the technical direction of backend and frontend development, guide engineering best practices, and work closely with product, AI/ML.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and delivery of software solutions from concept through production deployment and monitoring
• Provide hands-on leadership across backend and frontend engineering activities
• Mentor and support engineers through code reviews, technical coaching, design reviews, and collaborative problem solving
• Drive engineering standards, software quality, and continuous improvement practices across the team
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable REST APIs and distributed services
• Oversee cloud infrastructure design, deployment, and operational reliability within AWS environments
• Lead architectural decisions around data modelling, system integrations, performance optimisation, and scalability
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code frameworks to support repeatable and auditable deployments
• Collaborate with product, AI/ML, QA, and clinical stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Ensure software development practices align with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
• Manage technical risks, production incidents, and complex engineering challenges while supporting delivery timelines
• Contribute to technical documentation including architecture diagrams, solution designs, operational runbooks, and standards
• Support agile delivery practices and contribute to strategic technology planning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essentia

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including technical leadership responsibilities
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex production systems
• Strong backend engineering experience using Python and modern web frameworks such as Django
• Experience designing and operating cloud-native applications within AWS environments
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and API design
• Expertise in PostgreSQL and relational database design, optimisation, and data integrity
• Experience with frontend technologies including React and TypeScript
• Strong understanding of web application security and secure development practices
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments

Desirable

• Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, medical devices, or SaaS platforms
• Exposure to AI/ML-integrated applications or data-intensive systems
• Knowledge of image processing or 3D modelling applications
• Experience with serverless AWS technologies including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Fargate, Step Functions, and CloudFront
• Experience leading distributed or cross-functional engineering teams
