Head of Finance
Senior Head of Finance role within a private markets investment manager specialising in private credit and alternative assets. Reporting to the Managing Partner, you will lead corporate finance and oversee fund finance across multiple entities. Responsibilities include reporting, controls, budgeting, forecasting, tax, audit, treasury and fund administration, including NAV, investor reporting and compliance, while supporting strategic decision-making and growth initiatives.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance to join a fast-growing private markets investment manager specialising in private credit and alternative assets. Reporting to the Managing Partner, this is a senior leadership role with full ownership of the finance function across both corporate and fund structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all corporate finance activities including month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare management accounts, board reporting packs and financial analysis
- Own budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
- Provide strategic financial advice to the Managing Partner and executive team
- Oversee treasury and liquidity management, including cash flow forecasting
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger integrity
- Coordinate statutory reporting, financial statements and external audit processes
- Oversee tax compliance including GST, BAS, FBT, income tax and payroll tax
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, banks and external service providers
- Oversee fund finance and fund administration across multiple investment vehicles
- Review and approve NAV calculations, unit pricing, fees, expenses and distributions
- Monitor fund cash flows and oversee investment transaction settlements
- Oversee investor operations including capital calls, redemptions and onboarding (KYC)
- Manage registry, custodian and administrator relationships
- Ensure strong financial controls, governance frameworks and regulatory compliance
- Support Board and executive reporting requirements
- Partner with investment, operations and distribution teams on strategic initiatives and capital raising
About You
- CA/CPA qualified finance professional
- Strong background in funds management, private markets or investment management
- Proven experience leading finance functions in complex, multi-entity environments
- Strong technical accounting, reporting and governance capability
- Experience working with external fund administrators, auditors and advisers
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, boutique investment environment
