Tax Advisor

The Role
This is a hands-on Tax Advisor opportunity within a lean, high-performing Tax team, with responsibility for overseeing the business’s operational tax obligations across Australia and globally. You’ll work closely with operational teams and senior Tax stakeholders to strengthen governance, controls and processes in a fast-paced financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee US tax-related client due diligence, withholding and reporting, including FATCA, QI and QDD requirements.

Manage third-party tax reporting, including AIIR, FATCA, CRS, transfer of shares and units reporting and TPAR.

Oversee withholding tax rate determinations across client, swap and stock loan income events.

Manage relief-at-source and withholding tax reclaim processes, including client tax documentation.

Develop and maintain robust operational tax processes across existing and new jurisdictions.

Oversee Australian operational tax obligations, including TFN/ABN withholding and reporting.

Provide tax guidance and training to operational teams and support best-practice governance.

Review and sign off tax filings and work closely with the Responsible Officer.

Partner with operational teams to improve automation, controls and processes, including the use of AI where appropriate.

Manage outsourced tax compliance arrangements and support third-party data governance.

Work with external auditors, the ATO and external service providers on tax-related matters.

Support broader Tax projects and advisory work across income tax, GST and other group tax obligations as required.
What You'll Need

Qualified Tax Accountant / CA / CPA or equivalent qualification.

Strong technical tax knowledge with the ability to apply tax legislation to complex situations.

Proven experience managing FATCA and CRS, ideally within financial services.

Strong operational tax experience, including withholding, reporting and compliance.

Experience developing, maintaining and improving operational tax processes and controls.

Ability to partner effectively with operational teams and stakeholders across a business.

Strong Excel and data management skills; experience with automation or AI is highly regarded.

Experience contributing to large-scale projects involving systems, new products or business implementations from a Tax perspective.

Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

A proactive, commercially minded approach with the confidence to challenge and provide solutions.
