Senior Recoveries Officer
Robert Walters is partnering with a leading financial services organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Recoveries Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and high-performing team, managing a complex portfolio of mortgage recoveries while delivering positive outcomes for customers.
This permanent opportunity is based in South Yarra and offers a flexible hybrid working model of three days in the office and two days working from home.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Recoveries Officer, you will manage a portfolio of impaired residential and commercial lending accounts, working closely with customers experiencing financial hardship to negotiate sustainable and commercially sound outcomes.
You'll play a key role in managing legal recovery processes, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring all activities are completed in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of mortgage accounts that are 90+ days in arrears
- Negotiate repayment arrangements and long-term recovery solutions with customers
- Assess financial hardship applications in accordance with policy and legislation
- Manage legal recovery action, including Mortgagee in Possession matters where applicable
- Liaise with solicitors, insolvency practitioners, valuers and other key stakeholders
- Minimise financial loss through effective portfolio management
- Resolve escalated customer enquiries and complaints with professionalism and empathy
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all regulatory obligations
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives across the Recoveries function.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- Previous mortgage recoveries experience within a bank, lender or financial institution (essential)
- Experience managing residential and/or commercial lending arrears
- Strong knowledge of mortgage recovery processes, financial hardship and legal recoveries
- Understanding of relevant legislation, including the NCCP, Bankruptcy Act and Debt Collection Guidelines
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to balance empathy and commercial decision-making
- The ability to manage a complex portfolio autonomously while working collaboratively within a team.
