Project Director - Manufacturing
* Sydney CBD * 12mth initial contract * Pays $1,300 - $1,700 a day
For an exciting nationally significant advanced manufacturing facility, our Government client is looking for an experienced Project Director to run the project across land identification, planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and then operation. The factory will have a strong focus on modern methods of construction (MMC), modularisation and digital manufacturing, so experience in this field will be highly valued.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for the planning, land identification, facility design, contract procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation of the Manufacturing Facility.
- Represent the program at executive board meetings and intergovernmental forums.
- Embed comprehensive risk management strategies and governance processes.
- Oversee the integration of IT, operational technology (OT), and data infrastructure into both facility design and ongoing operations.
- Coordinate between construction teams and advanced manufacturing system installers to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality assurance, sustainability practices, and optimal performance outcomes.
- Champion modern methods of construction (MMC) and modularisation techniques to revolutionise civil component manufacturing within the facility.
- Forge collaborative partnerships with industry stakeholders, academic institutions, and R&D organisations to embed cutting-edge innovation into every stage of production.
- Lead workforce development programs by engaging with training providers and stakeholders to build internal capability for high-tech manufacturing environments.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, manufacturing, or another relevant discipline.
- Proven experience leading the delivery of large-scale infrastructure or manufacturing facilities
- Knowledge of advanced manufacturing systems, MMC, and modularisation.
- Experience across the integration of robotics, automation and digital control systems
- Understanding of IT/OT integration and data infrastructure
- Excellent communication & engagement skills
