A unique opportunity awaits in Brisbane for a Test Manager to play a pivotal role in transforming the data and analytics landscape within a forward-thinking government department.

What you'll do:

• Define comprehensive test strategies and detailed test plans tailored for the Enterprise Data Platform, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
• Collaborate closely with delivery teams to develop robust test plans that guarantee thorough coverage across all critical business requirements as outlined in the overarching test strategy.
• Design and author precise test scripts based on established test plans, enabling efficient execution through advanced test frameworks.
• Engage with Data Analysts and Data Modellers to gain deep understanding of platform architecture and reporting needs, translating these insights into actionable test cases.
• Support user acceptance testing by working hand-in-hand with business teams, coordinating defect resolution processes to ensure seamless delivery of quality solutions.
• Execute end-to-end testing activities across multiple domains including system integration, functionality, performance, security, regression, smoke testing, and production verification.
• Ensure meticulous documentation of all test results for auditing purposes and effective release management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Leverage a broad suite of Azure technologies to enhance testing methodologies and frameworks, driving innovation in quality assurance practices.
• Contribute to the establishment of best practice frameworks and guidelines that underpin sustainable business-as-usual reporting capabilities post-project implementation.
• Actively participate in agile sprint planning sessions, providing timely updates on progress while communicating any risks or impediments that may affect project timelines.

What you bring:

• Demonstrated technical expertise in developing robust test frameworks using Azure Synapse Analytics, data lakes, SQL-based tools (such as SSIS and SSRS), and Power BI within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders—including Data Analysts, Modellers, business users—and facilitate smooth transitions during project handovers or operational changes.
• A proactive approach to identifying potential data quality issues or performance bottlenecks early in the process while seeking opportunities for optimisation throughout the testing lifecycle.
• Comprehensive understanding of daily operational requirements for data platforms; able to design scalable test strategies that support both immediate project needs and long-term sustainability.
• Advanced analytical skills with experience preparing complex datasets for use in sophisticated analytics or reporting scenarios.
• Adaptability in responding to evolving priorities within hybrid project-to-operations settings; comfortable navigating ambiguity while maintaining focus on key deliverables.
• Extensive experience testing modern data warehouse solutions on Azure—including writing SQL scripts for report validation—and working with APIs for data ingestion or sharing from a quality assurance perspective.
• Hands-on experience verifying user-level security requirements within enterprise reporting environments such as Power BI or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with metadata-driven testing methodologies as well as ETL/ELT processes relevant to contemporary Data Lakehouse architectures.
• Experience using Python or similar programming languages is highly regarded but not essential.
