Lvl 1 IT Support Engineer
Title: IT Support Officer (lvl1) Contract: 9 months Hours: 20 per week
A leading government department in Brisbane is seeking a dedicated IT Support Officer to join their team on a part-time basis for a 9-month contract. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide responsive and considerate technical support for end-users across the department, ensuring all queries related to Microsoft 365, Windows operating systems, Active Directory, and Intune are addressed efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues to troubleshoot issues, share knowledge, and ensure seamless operation of IT services throughout the organisation.
- Assist in maintaining user accounts and permissions within Active Directory, demonstrating attention to detail and sensitivity to security protocols.
- Support device management using Intune, helping users navigate mobile device setups and resolve any connectivity or configuration challenges.
- Deliver clear communication when explaining technical concepts to non-technical staff members, fostering understanding and trust within the team.
- Document support requests and resolutions accurately in the department’s ticketing system, ensuring transparency and continuity of service.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss ongoing projects, share insights, and contribute ideas for improving IT processes.
- Help implement updates and patches for Windows systems, minimising disruption while maintaining compliance with organisational standards.
- Offer guidance on best practices for using Microsoft 365 tools such as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive to enhance productivity across the department.
- Contribute positively to the department’s inclusive culture by supporting colleagues from diverse backgrounds and promoting teamwork.
The Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrated experience providing empathetic IT support within a professional environment, ideally involving government or large-scale organisations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, showing ability to guide users through common tasks and troubleshooting steps.
- Solid understanding of Windows operating systems administration and maintenance procedures.
- Hands-on experience managing user accounts and permissions via Active Directory with careful attention to security requirements.
- Familiarity with Intune for device management including setup assistance and resolving configuration issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling you to explain technical information clearly to colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to document support activities thoroughly using ticketing systems or similar platforms.
- Strong collaborative mindset with willingness to share knowledge and assist teammates whenever needed.
