HR & WHS Advisor
We are seeking a proactive and relationship-focused HR & WHS Advisor to join a large, complex and operationally diverse organisation. This is a visible, trusted advisory role supporting both people and safety outcomes across a varied workforce, including leaders, frontline employees, and contractors. You will play a key role in embedding practical, people-centred approaches to workplace relations, employee experience, and health, safety and wellbeing. Working within a collaborative team environment, this position offers the opportunity to influence real outcomes through coaching, sound judgement, and strong stakeholder engagement.
The role
Reporting to senior leadership, this role blends generalist HR advisory with WHS partnering, supporting leaders to effectively manage their teams while maintaining safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplaces.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to translate both HR and WHS frameworks into practical, day-to-day application within a complex operational setting.
Key responsibilities
HR Advisory
- Provide practical, timely advice to leaders on employee relations matters including performance, conduct, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations
- Support leaders in applying HR policies, procedures, and frameworks in a pragmatic and consistent way
- Assist with case management, documentation, and processes relating to disciplinary matters and grievances
- Contribute to initiatives that support employee engagement, culture, and leadership capability
- Coach and mentor leaders to build confidence in people management practices
WHS & Wellbeing
- Partner with leaders to promote safe systems of work and a positive safety culture
- Undertake risk-based safety activities including workplace inspections, observations, and assurance reviews
- Support incident investigations with a focus on learning, continuous improvement, and prevention
- Contribute to the review and improvement of WHS systems, procedures, and guidance materials
- Facilitate consultation and engagement activities, including committees and workshop
About you
You are a credible and approachable advisor who builds strong relationships and provides balanced, practical guidance. You are equally comfortable supporting people leaders through employee matters as you are engaging teams on safety and wellbeing.
You bring a collaborative mindset and value influence, coaching, and sound judgement over rigid enforcement.
Experience & capabilities
- Experience in a generalist HR advisory role, ideally with exposure to employee relations
- Working knowledge of WHS practices, legislation, or safety systems (or a strong willingness to build capability in this area)
- Ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience working in operational, industrial, or contractor-heavy environments (desirable)
- Relevant qualifications in HR, WHS, or a related discipline (or working towards)
Why join?
- A diverse, complex environment where you can make a genuine impact
- A supportive, down-to-earth team culture
- The opportunity to influence both people and safety outcomes in a meaningful way
- Work-life balance with a Monday–Friday structure
