People and Culture Business Partner
Join a respected national regulatory agency as a People & Culture Business Partner, delivering trusted HR advice across employee relations, complex case management, performance and workforce initiatives. Leverage your Enterprise Agreement expertise and coaching capability to empower leaders, build confidence and drive practical solutions. With strong professional presence and a collaborative mindset, you’ll help shape an inclusive culture and deliver meaningful people outcomes.
This is a true HR Business Partnering role with a strong ER focus, suited to a commercially minded HR professional who can provide trusted advice, coach leaders and navigate sensitive workplace matters with confidence. The successful candidate will bring strong professional presence, sound judgement and a collaborative approach, empowering leaders to build capability while maintaining accountability.
You will join a national People & Culture function supporting approximately 1,500 employees across Australia, with around 9–10 People & Culture Business Partners nationally.
The role supports the Technology and Change Management portfolio, with teams aligned by both location and business function. The portfolio includes a high proportion of contingent agency workers, requiring strong stakeholder engagement, workforce coordination and practical HR partnership.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with leaders across a dedicated portfolio of approximately 200–250 FTE, supporting Technology and Change Management functions through proactive and responsive HR advice.
- Manage complex employee relations matters including performance management, grievances, workplace concerns, disciplinary processes, absenteeism and health-related matters.
- Provide trusted guidance on employment practices, Enterprise Agreements, workplace legislation and organisational policies to support fair, consistent and compliant outcomes.
- Coach managers to build confidence and capability in managing people matters, enabling leaders to take ownership while providing the right level of support and challenge.
- Act as a trusted advisor, balancing employee experience, business needs and organisational risk through practical, solutions-focused recommendations.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships through credibility, influence and effective communication across all levels of the organisation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, workforce priorities and people projects in partnership with the broader People & Culture team.
- Contribute to a consistent national employee experience by collaborating with People & Culture colleagues across portfolios and locations.
Ideal Background & Demonstrated Expertise
- Proven experience as a People & Culture Business Partner, HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor within a complex, matrixed organisation.
- Strong depth of experience in employee relations and case management, with confidence managing sensitive and challenging workplace matters.
- Demonstrated understanding of Enterprise Agreements (EA), employment legislation and contemporary HR frameworks.
- Experience coaching managers to strengthen leadership capability, confidence and accountability in people management.
- A consultative approach that empowers leaders to resolve matters effectively, rather than creating dependency on HR.
- Strong interpersonal skills, professional presence and the ability to influence stakeholders through trusted relationships.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to operate independently and contribute positively to a national team environment.
- Experience supporting a workforce with a significant proportion of contingent or agency workers would be highly regarded.
