What you'll do:
As a Senior Project Officer – Health and Wellbeing, you will be at the forefront of advancing workplace health standards across multiple service streams. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with coordinators to implement new medical standards that address operational complexities unique to both paid staff and volunteers. You will take ownership of developing mandatory audiometric testing protocols, ensuring compliance with evolving WHS regulations while prioritising employee safety. In addition, you will design innovative health surveillance initiatives targeting critical issues such as heat stress prevention, fatigue management, and occupational violence. Your expertise will drive targeted interventions aimed at reducing manual handling incidents and monitoring hazardous substance exposure. You will also lead fitness-for-work reviews for individuals managing chronic conditions like Type 1 diabetes, ensuring their safe participation in the workforce. By working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will build robust health programmes from inception to implementation, championing inclusive practices that uphold legal obligations under the Anti-Discrimination Act. - Assist the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator in implementing new medical standards tailored to the unique needs of various service streams, with particular focus on operational challenges faced by volunteer groups.
- Develop comprehensive mandatory audiometric testing protocols and hearing conservation programmes that comply with updated Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.
- Design specialised health surveillance initiatives addressing key risks such as heat stress prevention, fatigue management, and occupational violence within the organisation.
- Drive targeted health initiatives aimed at reducing manual handling incidents through proactive hazard identification and intervention strategies.
- Monitor exposure to hazardous substances by establishing robust review processes that ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead fitness-for-work reviews for employees affected by Type 1 diabetes, ensuring safe integration into the workforce while maintaining high standards of care.
