The countdown to the 2025 Adelaide Fringe has officially begun with the reveal of this year’s stunning poster design, titled Are We Nearly There Yet?. Created by artist and printmaker John Pedder, the artwork is the first woodblock print to win the festival’s prestigious poster competition in its 60+ year history.
John’s process involves hand-carving wood blocks and producing prints in his backyard studio. His winning design features an array of boldly coloured characters representing diverse ages and genders, each telling their own story. The playful and inclusive artwork perfectly aligns with Adelaide Fringe’s vision of becoming the world’s most inclusive festival.
Adelaide Fringe Director and CEO Heather Croall shared her excitement:
"Congratulations to John Pedder on winning the poster design for Fringe 2025. We received a huge number of submissions from all over the world this year, and John’s design stood out as one that truly captured the spirit of Fringe. The characters are super playful, and it’s especially exciting to feature a hand-carved woodblock print for the first time. We can’t wait to see this artwork take over the streets of Adelaide and South Australia to celebrate the upcoming season of Fringe."
