Join a respected mid-tier Melbourne CBD law firm as a Legal Assistant in a busy Family Law team. This opportunity is initially a 3-month contract but could be converted to permanent. Supporting experienced lawyers, you’ll assist on parenting and property matters while delivering high-quality, compassionate client service. This role offers a collaborative culture, and the opportunity to build your career in a fast-paced, professional environment.

  • What you'll do:
  • Provide administrative and secreatarial support to Partners & Lawyers within the Family Law team (1 in particular)
  • Manage Lawyer's inbox including saving emails and forwarding where necessary
  • Preparing briefs and dictations
  • Draft, format and proofread legal documents, court documents and correspondence
  • Manage client files, including opening, closing and electronic filing
  • Coordinate diaries, appointments and court deadlines
  • Assist with monthly billing, time recording and general matter management
  • Liaise with clients, courts and internal and external stakeholders professionally and sensitively

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Legal Assistant (must be within Family Law)
  • Strong understanding of court processes and legal documentation
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Must have good touch typing with high accuracy (this will be assessed)
  • Must be available at short notice
