Production Manager

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Production Manager to lead production activities across complex marine and defence projects in Darwin. Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring production teams, supervisors and contractors have the resources, plans and support required to safely deliver projects on time, in full and to the highest quality standards.

This is a highly visible leadership position where you will spend time on the workshop floor, driving performance, supporting supervisors and removing barriers to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate production activities across multiple work fronts and disciplines.
• Develop and execute production plans, schedules and resource requirements to achieve project milestones.
• Support Supervisors and contractors to deliver work safely, efficiently and to specification.
• Monitor production progress, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project delivery.
• Drive a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements and procedures.
• Coordinate material availability, subcontractor activities, equipment and site support requirements.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, supply chain and quality teams.
• Lead toolbox talks and maintain effective communication across production teams.
• Coach, mentor and develop Supervisors and production personnel.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency and waste reduction.
• Ensure accurate reporting of schedule performance, resource utilisation and project status.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality and operational discipline across the facility.

About You

To be successful in this role you will ideally possess:

• A relevant trade qualification or equivalent technical background.
• Previous experience in a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager or Senior Supervisor position.
• Proven leadership experience within heavy manufacturing, marine, defence, shipbuilding or complex industrial environments.
• Strong planning, scheduling and resource allocation capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• Experience managing production teams to deliver against safety, quality and schedule objectives.
• A hands-on leadership style with a strong presence on the workshop floor.
• A passion for continuous improvement and developing high-performing teams.
