Geotechnical Engineer Logger

Robert Walters is partnering with a leading global mining organisation to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer Logger for a 12-month FIFO contract in the Pilbara. Working an 8/6 roster from Perth, the role will focus on geotechnical core logging, OTV picking and the accurate collection and validation of geotechnical data. This is a hands-on site-based opportunity within an established technical team supporting major mining operations.

Geotechnical Engineer Logger – FIFO 8/6

Robert Walters is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer Logger to join BHP's geotechnical core logging team in Newman on a 12-month contract.

Working an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, the role involves 12-hour workdays, including fly-in and fly-out days.

The position will focus on geotechnical core logging, OTV picking and accurate collection and recording of geotechnical data. Relevant training will be provided on site to suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake geotechnical core logging and OTV picking
• Accurately collect, validate and maintain geotechnical data
• Utilise relevant technical software and data-entry platforms
• Maintain high standards of data accuracy and fidelity
• Work collaboratively with geology, geotechnical and operational teams
• Follow BHP safety requirements and site procedures
• Work within a covered outdoor core farm in Pilbara conditions

About You

• Geotechnical core logging and OTV picking experience, or similar experience
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or equivalent highly regarded
• WellCAD and Geobank experience highly regarded; training can be provided
• Ability to adapt to the BHP work culture and perform as a team player in an inclusive environment
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Excellent communication skills
• Comfortable working extended periods in a covered outdoor core farm

Contract Details

• 12-month contract
• 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth to Newman
• 12-hour workdays, including travel days
• $70–$75 per hour + superannuation

This opportunity would suit a Geologist, Engineering Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer with hands-on logging experience looking to work within a major Pilbara mining environment.
