Far from Australia, Jeremy was guided home by Clint

To say that 2021 was a significant year in the life of Jeremy Pinar would be a massive understatement. After seven years living and working overseas, he and his wife were eager to return to their homeland of Australia. Their yearning was strong after Australia slammed shut its borders during the initial COVID-19 outbreak. And stronger still when they discovered they were expecting their first baby.

Clint put me at ease, listened to my story, and gave me some handy guidance

When Jeremy thinks back to that time, he does so with a slight shudder. “We enjoyed life in Switzerland, but the pandemic changed everything. Many of our friends left to return to their home countries and we found ourselves a bit stuck. So, we decided to do everything at once: Find a new job. Start a family. Relocate to the other side of the world. And to top it all off, I was limping around waiting for knee surgery!”

When life gets complicated like this, we all crave some simplicity. And fortunately for Jeremy, his job search led him to Clint Davies, a senior manager who specialises in technology for Robert Walters in Perth. “Clint was recruiting on behalf of Micromine, when I applied for the role of Global Head of Technical Support there,” recalls Jeremy. “I was still in Geneva when I applied, and Clint got back to me immediately. He then took the time to talk me through the role during a video call.” 

What immediately stood out to Jeremy was that Clint was so approachable. “Clint just has that way about him; it was like talking to a mate. He put me at ease, listened to my story, and gave me some handy guidance. After he put me forward for the role, Clint kept me informed at every stage and basically made the process simple, which was exactly what I needed at that time.”

Jeremy secured the role with Micromine and, since arriving in Perth, he and Clint have caught up in person. “We meet up to share experiences and best practice,” says Jeremy. “Clint is well connected in the local market, so it’s always interesting to hear his perspective.”
