Procurement Lead (6-Month Contract)

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Lead to join a highly respected operations team in Adelaide. This pivotal role is responsible for leading procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring robust contract governance. The successful candidate will play a key part in driving value-driven outcomes, enhancing operational efficiency, and upholding the highest standards of compliance within a complex and fast-evolving environment. With a focus on collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement, this position offers the chance to make a significant impact on critical infrastructure while working alongside knowledgeable professionals who are committed to excellence. Flexible working opportunities, ongoing training, and a supportive leadership culture ensure that you can thrive both personally and professionally in this role.

What you'll do:

As Procurement Lead, you will be at the forefront of developing strategic approaches to procurement. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan and execute procurement activities for facilities maintenance, ensuring every contract delivers maximum value while adhering to strict compliance standards. You will be instrumental in building strong supplier partnerships through effective contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and regular engagement sessions. By leveraging your analytical skills and commercial acumen, you will identify areas for cost optimisation without compromising quality or continuity of supply. Your ability to maintain meticulous records using advanced procurement tools will support transparent decision-making processes. Success in this role requires not only technical expertise but also excellent interpersonal skills as you work closely with stakeholders at all levels to achieve shared commercial objectives.

  • Develop comprehensive procurement strategies in collaboration with internal teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes across all airport facilities.
  • Plan, programme, and execute procurement activities related to Facilities Maintenance spend, including overseeing contract renewals and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Draft, evaluate, negotiate, and execute contracts by working closely with legal and procurement colleagues to ensure robust governance frameworks are maintained.
  • Establish and maintain a structured approach to supplier contracts management, ensuring all contracted spend within the Facilities Maintenance portfolio is effectively governed.
  • Create and manage a proactive contract renewal programme that maximises operational spend under contract while maintaining value within budget constraints.
  • Analyse supplier capabilities in partnership with procurement teams to ensure future spend profiles align with organisational needs and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Organise regular contractor performance meetings, tracking key metrics such as service levels, cost outcomes, and overall supplier effectiveness.
  • Lead oversight of supplier performance against agreed KPIs by enforcing accountability for contract deliverables and supporting issue resolution when required.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through specification optimisation and rationalisation of suppliers while ensuring compliance with modern slavery legislation and sustainability requirements.
  • Maintain accurate data records within ERP systems for pricing structures, contracts, correspondence, and documentation to guarantee transparency throughout all procurement processes.

What you bring:

To excel as Procurement Lead you will bring proven experience from roles involving complex procurement activities—ideally within asset maintenance or similar sectors—where your attention to detail has ensured robust contract governance. Your background should include hands-on responsibility for negotiating agreements that balance value creation with risk mitigation. You will have demonstrated your ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining clear lines of communication between internal teams and external partners. A deep understanding of commercial principles combined with strong analytical abilities allows you to interpret data accurately for informed decision-making. Your commitment to fostering positive stakeholder relationships will be matched by your dedication to upholding workplace health & safety guidelines as well as environmental responsibility procedures. Above all else, your enthusiasm for collaborative problem-solving will help embed customer service excellence into every aspect of your work.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commercial or Contracts Management, Supply Chain Management or a similar discipline are essential for this position.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a comparable procurement or asset maintenance role is highly desirable for success in this post.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing complex contracts including drafting, evaluation, negotiation, and execution is required.
  • Proven track record of managing suppliers within an operationally focused environment is necessary for effective performance oversight.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting competing deadlines is crucial for this multifaceted role.
  • Strong commercial awareness combined with analytical skills enables sound decision-making based on data-driven insights.
  • Experience working within critical infrastructure environments would be advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Commitment to upholding organisational values such as accountability, integrity, respect, teamwork, celebration, and customer focus is expected from all applicants.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills are needed to engage effectively with stakeholders at every level of the organisation.
  • Professional presentation coupled with initiative-driven self-motivation ensures successful outcomes in challenging situations.
