Senior Project Manager- Data

Join a purpose-driven financial institution undergoing a major bank merger. We’re seeking an experienced Data Project Manager to lead the consolidation of complex data environments and deliver critical outcomes in a highly regulated industry.

About the role

This organisation is navigating a full-scale merger, creating challenges like fragmented systems, duplicate data sources, and increased regulatory reporting requirements. As the Data Project Manager, you will:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of data transformation projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
• Oversee the consolidation of multiple data systems into a unified platform, including building out a centralised data lake.
• Manage the migration, cleaning, validation, and structuring of data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability for reporting and operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data, technology, and business) to align priorities and drive execution.
• Develop detailed project roadmaps, phases, and delivery plans to bring structure to complex programs.
• Establish governance frameworks by standardising data definitions, ownership structures, and metadata management.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., APRA/ASIC), delivering reliable data pipelines and structured reporting environments.
• Identify risks and dependencies across programs while proactively resolving issues to keep projects on track.

What we’re looking for

We need a strong Project Manager with:

• Proven experience delivering large-scale data or transformation projects in complex environments (merger experience is a plus).
• A conceptual understanding of data lifecycle management, governance, and reporting (hands-on technical skills are not required).
• Exceptional planning, sequencing, and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• The ability to thrive in dynamic environments where you can turn complexity into structured execution.
• Strong communication skills to engage with senior stakeholders and align cross-functional teams toward shared goals.
