Integration Architect

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Integration & Technical Solution Architect to lead the end-to-end technical design of SAP-based integrations, interfaces, and extensions within a large and complex enterprise environment. This role is responsible for architecting secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards, integration frameworks, and governance requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with solution architects, functional specialists, infrastructure teams, security stakeholders, and project delivery teams to design and implement robust SAP integration and extension capabilities across multiple business-critical platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design

• Lead the end-to-end technical architecture and design of SAP interfaces, integrations, and extensions.
• Analyse SAP S/4HANA environments and connected enterprise systems to determine technical design requirements and integration approaches.
• Collaborate with solution architects and functional experts to understand business and functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure all proposed designs align with enterprise architecture standards, technical frameworks, and integration strategies.
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, including:
  • Solution Architecture Designs (SAD)
  • Solution Implementation Designs (SID)
  • Technical specifications and design artefacts

Integration Architecture

• Define scalable and maintainable integration patterns across SAP and external systems.
• Design and governintegrations using technologies and protocols including:
  • RFC
  • IDoc
  • OData
  • REST APIs
  • SOAP services
• Design and support cloud-based integration solutions leveraging SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI).
• Ensure interoperability between SAP applications and enterprise platforms through secure, reliable integration frameworks.

Security & Identity Architecture

• Design and maintain authentication, identity, and access management architecture for SAP environments.
• Define secure access mechanisms including:
  • Single Sign-On (SSO)
  • SAML
  • OAuth
  • Certificate-based authentication
• Ensure architectural compliance with cybersecurity standards, governance requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Infrastructure & Platform Architecture

• Define technical connectivity requirements including:
  • Network segmentation and zones
  • Routing requirements
  • Ports and protocols
  • Firewall configurations
• Establish infrastructure requirements relating to:
  • Performance
  • Scalability
  • Availability
  • Monitoring
  • Logging and alerting
  • Runtime optimisation
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking, and platform teams to validate and refine technical designs.

Governance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure all technical solutions comply with enterprise architecture standards, corporate governance policies, and industry best practices.
• Contribute to architecture review processes and technical governance activities.
• Support the design of WRICEF components while adhering to SAP clean-core principles and upgrade-safe extensibility practices.
• Manage risks, constraints, dependencies, and architectural decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

Stakeholder Engagement & Knowledge Transfer

• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Build strong collaborative relationships across architecture, delivery, business, and operational teams.
• Support knowledge transfer, documentation handover, and capability uplift activities to ensure long-term sustainability of solutions.

Skills & Experience

Essential Experience

• Extensive experience designing solution and integration architectures within large-scale SAP environments.
• Proven experience delivering architecture artefacts such as Solution Architecture Designs (SAD) and Solution Implementation Designs (SID).
• Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture and enterprise integration frameworks.
• Experience designing cloud and hybrid integration solutions using SAP BTP and SAP CPI.
• Demonstrated experience working across complex enterprise technology landscapes involving multiple interconnected systems.

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of SAP integration technologies and protocols, including:
  • RFC
  • IDoc
  • OData
  • REST APIs
  • SOAP services
• Understanding of authentication and security mechanisms including:
  • SSO
  • SAML
  • OAuth
  • Certificates and encryption technologies
• Knowledge of SAP architecture principles, clean-core methodologies, and extension frameworks.
• Familiarity with SAP Cloud ALM and associated enterprise SAP tools.

Architecture & Infrastructure Knowledge

• Strong understanding of:

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• SAP certifications in architecture, integration, SAP BTP, or SAP S/4HANA.
• Relevant enterprise architecture or integration architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent
