Senior Azure Cloud Engineer - Canberra - NV1 Minimum

We're partnering with a well-established Australian IT services provider looking for a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join its growing team in Canberra. This is an opportunity to work across a broad Microsoft cloud environment, supporting secure and resilient technology solutions for government and other essential service providers. You'll get hands-on with Azure infrastructure, automation, identity management and the wider Microsoft ecosystem, while working alongside a national team of experienced cloud professionals. What you'll be doing

• Design, implement and maintain secure Azure environments across services including Virtual Machines, App Service, Azure SQL and Azure Storage.

• Automate infrastructure deployments using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates.

• Manage identity and access controls using Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC and PIM.

• Support the wider Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows 365 and Exchange Online.

• Maintain system reliability through proactive monitoring, backup management and recovery planning.

• Apply your Power Platform knowledge across Power Apps, Power Automate and environment governance.

• Work directly with customers and internal technical teams to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.

• Contribute to technical discussions, share knowledge and help improve cloud engineering practices across the wider team.

What we're looking for

We're keen to speak with experienced Azure engineers who enjoy a mix of hands-on technical work, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement.

You'll ideally bring:

• An active Australian Government NV1 security clearance, essential for this position.

• Proven hands-on experience designing, implementing and supporting Azure environments.

• Strong knowledge of core Azure infrastructure and services.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates.

• A solid understanding of Microsoft Entra ID and modern identity and access management.

• Exposure to Microsoft 365, Intune and other Microsoft cloud technologies.

• Experience supporting enterprise environments, with an understanding of monitoring, backups, disaster recovery and operational resilience.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with customers and technical teams.

• An understanding of ITIL and IT service management practices.

Experience with Power Platform governance, including Power Apps and Power Automate, would also be valuable.
