Network Project Engineer
This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects from initial design through implementation, testing, commissioning and operational handover. You will work closely with project managers, architects, operations teams, cyber security specialists and external vendors to deliver reliable, secure and scalable network solutions across both corporate and operational technology environments. The role offers a mix of office-based work and site engagement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical design with practical project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Deliver network infrastructure projects through the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through to implementation and handover.
- Support project planning, technical estimation, testing, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
- Provide technical leadership during migrations, cutovers and transition-to-support activities.
- Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Network Engineering
- Design, configure and support enterprise and industrial networking solutions.
- Deliver resilient routing and switching environments across Cisco and industrial networking platforms.
- Implement solutions involving VLANs, VRFs, QoS, dynamic routing and high-availability architectures.
- Support Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki switching and wireless technologies where required.
Wireless & Operational Technology Networks
- Deliver wireless networking solutions across office and operational environments.
- Support site surveys, wireless design validation and commissioning activities.
- Integrate network infrastructure with OT environments including PLC, SCADA and other industrial systems.
- Work within established operational and cyber security frameworks to minimise production impact.
Security, Governance & Documentation
- Apply network security best practices including segmentation, access controls and secure remote access.
- Support firewall and security technology integration across enterprise environments.
- Produce technical documentation including HLDs, LLDs, implementation plans, test plans and as-built documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, governance processes and change management activities.
About You
You will be an experienced Network Engineer with a strong track record delivering infrastructure projects in enterprise, industrial, mining or operational environments.
You will bring:
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
- Experience delivering network infrastructure projects from design through to commissioning.
- Knowledge of enterprise wireless and industrial networking environments.
- Understanding of network security principles and segmentation strategies.
- Experience supporting site deployments, migrations and operational handovers.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and technical documentation skills.
Desirable Experience
- Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki and Catalyst Centre/DNA Centre.
- Industrial networking technologies including Hirschmann or similar platforms.
- Mining, resources, utilities or heavy industry environments.
- Experience with Check Point, Palo Alto or F5 technologies.
- Relevant Cisco or networking certifications.
