Database Developer

- Serve as the primary system administrator and subject-matter expert for the key projects, overseeing configuration, user management, data integrity, version upgrades, and module administration.
- Design, maintain, and optimise database schemas and SQL Server infrastructure to ensure high performance, availability, security, and data quality across all systems.
- Architect, develop, and manage integrations between core CRM platforms, finance systems, cloud identity providers, and communication tools using APIs (REST/SOAP), middleware, and ETL processes.
- Develop dashboards, reports, self-service analytics tools, and custom queries using platforms like Power BI, Crystal Reports, SSRS or similar to support strategic planning and operational needs.
- Champion data quality frameworks by implementing profiling, cleansing, validation routines, and advising stakeholders on evidence-based decision-making.
- Administer database change management processes including updates, release procedures, backup/recovery strategies while ensuring compliance with privacy legislation and organisational policies.
- Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain custom web applications or internal tools using modern frameworks (Python/.NET/Node.js) aligned with the institution’s technology stack.
- Collaborate with stakeholders from various departments to gather requirements for digital solutions that extend enterprise system capabilities while ensuring secure coding practices are followed.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation in partnership with key stakeholders; utilise ticketing systems for request tracking; document all changes thoroughly before implementation.

Mentor IT staff in best practices for database management and application development while staying abreast of emerging technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related discipline is essential for this role.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server technologies including T-SQL scripting, query optimisation techniques as well as experience with SSIS/SSRS or equivalent reporting tools is required.
- Demonstrated ability to design API-based or middleware integrations (REST/SOAP/webhooks/ETL/Wonde) along with strong skills in ASP.NET/PowerShell/scripting languages is necessary.
- Solid application development experience using one or more programming languages such as Python/C#/.NET/Node.js/PHP is expected.
- Proven track record delivering business intelligence solutions using Power BI/Tableau/SSRS/Microsoft Fabric/Crystal Reports or similar platforms is highly valued.
- Comprehensive understanding of data governance principles including privacy legislation (Australian Privacy Act/APP) plus information security best practices is mandatory.
- Minimum five years experience in senior database administration or application development roles ideally within education or enterprise environments is preferred.
- Excellent business analysis skills encompassing risk assessment solution design capabilities coupled with outstanding troubleshooting/problem-solving abilities are vital.
- Exceptional communication skills enabling clear translation of technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders alongside proven stakeholder engagement experience are important attributes.
