DataBricks Event Round up

Just before the Easter long weekend, our Data team had the pleasure of attending the Databricks CIO Forum at the Manly Pacific.

It was a fantastic day filled with insight and discussion on the opportunities presented by GenAI in building a Data COE.

Our partnership with Databricks allowed us to invite our clients to this event exclusive to leaders in the data industry - an opportunity to not only network but learn from their AI forward peers including Joanna Gurry.

Key takeaways from the event were:

  • Democratize data & AI by making it simple, strong and accessible

  • Connect data & AI and prioritize data privacy & control, do not depend entirely on technical staff

  • Fix the fundamentals; your data quality, data culture and data management before experimenting with AI

The Agenda:

  • Latest insights, trends and market overview of data and AI in Australia & NZ Capital allocation, budgets and investment priorities Modernisation profile of Australian enterprise & government IT effectiveness at delivering on desired business outcomes

  • Data maturity stats on:
Building a robust, scalable information & data architecture Improving data quality and integration Standardised data governance and processes Automated decision making Democratising access to reusable insights Creating a single view of the customer Delivering accurate, trusted and evidence-based dashboards Building and monetising data-driven products Aligning data maturity and metrics with business goals
    Common data culture and literacy

  • Succeeding with AI Organisational AI readiness stats on Australia
Common Technical barriers that could hinder AI value
    Common Cultural barrier

  • Local % stats on plans to build, self-host and train LLM

  • Use Cases – from ideation to production to business outcome

  • 2024 is the year to prepare, we must keep up – data is the foundation to everything

  • Drive a sense of urgency for AI to act
