A fast-tracked career from finance to management

I grew up in Hong Kong before relocating to Australia, where I completed both my high school education and university studies. I studied accounting at university, and upon graduation, I entered the workforce as an accountant. However, I soon realised my passion lay in engaging with people, prompting me to transition into sales.

In January 2022, while contemplating a return to finance, I encountered Robert Walters. Through discussions with people at the company, I discovered the role of recruitment consultant, which appealed to me due to its blend of accounting expertise and people skills – it was exactly what I was looking for.

Within two years of joining Robert Walters, I've been fortunate to advance to a management position, a testament to the supportive environment fostered here. There's no hierarchy, with managers and senior staff readily accessible for guidance and mentorship.

The managers that I’ve had have years of experience within the accounting and finance recruitment market here in Brisbane. The support you can get from someone with years of experience in a market definitely helps you progress.

There are a few favourite things of mine working at Robert Walters. The people that I work with, the ability to meet executive leaders across multiple organisations, and also the ability to work around the world. I’ve definitely made some lifelong friends working here. On top of that, as a manager, I get the benefit of mortgage contribution which has been immensely beneficial, showcasing Robert Walters’ commitment to employee wellbeing.
